Billy Wins MDA Award

As a result of discussions this fall with a number of members of the Board about appropriate ways to honor those who've made particularly outstanding contributions to MDA's effort in the areas of corporate and organizational sponsorship, media and entertainment industry support and personal fund-raising, we've established the MDA Directors' Award.

At the MDA Board of Directors luncheon on Friday, December 7th in New York City, Board Chairman Rod Howell bestowed the first of these upon representatives of the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Harley-Davidson Motor Co., to Parade Chairman & CEO Walter Anderson, to entertainers Tom Bergeron and Billy Gilman, and to MDA Vice President Paul Kessenich whose fund-raising efforts have established and sustained the Kessenich Family MDA/ALS Center at the University of Miami.

It's never too late to acknowledge the help of friends. I understand that because of Billy Gilman our 8th annual Crystal Ball in Virginia Beach was a record breaker! The event raised $305,000 -- up 14% from last year largely due to your help with inspiring the 450 guests to contribute to the research minutes auction.

Please accept my sincerest thanks for another Billy Gilman triumph. It was so great everyone is looking for an encore next year!
